About
Award-winning flautist/pianist/composer Eddie Parker first came to prominence as one of the founding members and contributing composers for the seminal UK big band of the 1980’s, Loose Tubes. In the early 90’s Eddie became an important part of South African pianist/composer Bheki Mseleku’s band before forming the first of his own groups, touring and recording throughout the 90’s. Since then he has been featured in numerous bands, including Django Bates’s “Delightful Precipice” as well as his own “Twittering Machine” (my band name of the month!) and most recently “Turning World”. Generally considered one of the finest jazz flautists in international music he includes numerous Festival performances including Le Mans (France), Molde (Norway), Copenhagen (Denmark), Wiesen (Austria), and Guimarães (Portugal) on an impressive list. Eddie is also an accomplished composer with a number of commissions to his name as well as teaching credits including Senior Lecturer in Jazz at Middlesex University and PRS Composer in Education at Cheltenham International Festival of Music. He has been active as a respected educator for many years and is currently Director of the innovative and highly successful jazz and improvisation education company, Impro Integrated Music Projects. Tonight Eddie is bringing his fabulous new quartet “Airborn” to the Club, featuring Eddie on both flute and keyboard along with Rob Luft on guitar, Dave Mannington on bass and Martin France on drums performing both his own compositions alongside material from the likes of John McLaughlin, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler, Jan Garbarek and Keith Jarrett. As Eddie says "Expect some incredible playing, beautiful sounds and an amazing level of telepathy from this new band"....
