MARLENE VERPLANCK
...."she may be the most accomplished interpreter of American popular music performing today"...
The New York Times
Marlene VerPlanck has been performing in the the UK many years and happily includes The Concord Club in her 2014 itinerary.
She began her career singing with the last Tommy/Jimmy Dorsey Band, then went on to become one of the busiest studio singers in New York City, singing thousands of commercials, "Mmmm Good, That's what Campbell's Soups are", "Winston Tastes Good, Like a Cigarette Should", "Weekends Were Made for Michelob", to name a few. As a back up singer she has sung with everyone from Sinatra to Kiss. Today, you might find Marlene singing somewhere in the UK, Paris, Sweden, Japan, Holland or in the recording studio. Her cd's include some of the world's most important instrumentalists,George Shearing, Tommy Flanagan, Marian McPartland, Hank Jones, and many more. The latest cd, "Ballads...mostly" has garnered dozens of rave reviews, (see web site) and features the magnificent saxophonist, Houston Person. ...
