Gina Foster, who is probably best known for her work with the iconic group “Swing Out Sister”, is a truly gifted and impressive singer. Perhaps most familiar to those at the Club for her shows here with her friend Beverley Skeete (Rhythm Kings), Gina is renowned as one of the most soulful session vocalists around and has worked prolifically in jazz, soul, groove, pop and dance music with high profile artists including Eric Clapton, Sinead O’Connor & many more. Tonight Gina will be returning to the 606 with her band for the second performance of “Joni’s Soul”, her programme celebrating the life and music of iconic singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell. As she says "It's not easy to pick a setlist from such a prolific artist, with so many great songs to choose from. But so far our interpretations, with emphasis on the heart and soul, have been going down a storm! From “Hejira” to “Both Sides Now”, “Hissing of Summer Lawns”, “Coyote”, “Carey” and “Edith and the Kingpin”, it's a pleasure to hear these great songs played live and a special pleasure to perform them." And she has put together a terrific band to help accomplish that task, with Graham Harvey on piano and keyboards, Ronnie Johnson along with son Patrick Johnson on guitars, Steve Pearce on bass and Richard Bailey on drums. This promises to be a very special night indeed. Booking recommended....
