About

The HQ Quintet is a new collaboration between saxophonist Jamie Michael Harris and guitarist Bobby Quigley (co-leader of the Carl Hudson Groove Nights), two formidable young musicians who include work with the likes of Nile Rodgers, Eddie Henderson, Maceo Parker, Hamish Stuart, Sister Sledge, Pete Ray Biggin, Imaani and Katie Leone on impressive cvs. The music will be an infectious blend of Groove and Jazz featuring a selection of classic groove standards with the occasional "Groove" original thrown in for good measure. As would be expected, the rest of the band is made up of some of the finest young musicians on the scene, groove powerhouse Nathan Bossoh (Omar, Julian Marley, Yolanda Brown) on bass and the superb Jose Joyette (Eska, China Moses) on drums. Bobby and Jamie's special guests this evening will be two great musicians, the powerhouse Joy Rose on vocals and US sensation Mo Pleasure on keyboards and piano. A breathtaking singer Joy’s remarkable vocal talents have been making serious waves for some years amongst those who really know. Although you may not immediately recognise the name, there’s a very good chance you will recognise the remarkable voice, as Joy has been a featured performer with the likes of Sting, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and Incognito. US-born Mo Pleasure is widely regarded as one of the most talented musicians of his generation. A multi-instrumentalist who performs at the highest level on piano, keyboards, bass, guitar and trumpet over the last 25 years or so this legendary musician has toured and recorded with a veritable who's who of international artists, including the likes of Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire (for whom he also was MD), Ray Charles, Bette Midler (current MD), George Duke, Natalie Cole, Dianne Reeves, Christina Aguilera, Michael McDonald, Chaka Khan, Roberta Flack, Marcus Miller and Mary J. Blige. You get he idea, he's very, very good! This promises to be a fabulous night of jazz-influenced funk and soul from some of the finest exponents on the international scene. Highly recommended....
