About
In the Netherlands during World War II jazz music was banned by the Nazis. Some young people wanted at all costs preserve this music. They practiced in secret, played illegal radio broadcasts after and were determined to establish a school for jazz music after the war: the Swing College. On the day of liberation, May 5, 1945, the Orchestra of the Dutch Swing College had its first performance. The members gave lectures, organized jazz meetings and gave lessons in jazz. Soon changed the name Dutch Swing College Band. In 1960 DSCBand was (leading to the Dutch traditional jazz) professional orchestra, won countless awards and plays to date global commercial success.
