About

Award-winning pianist Kate Williams is a fine musician who has made a name for herself as both a performer, composer/arranger and music educator (teaching at both the Guildhall School of Music and Middlesex University). A previous winner of the John Dankworth Award she has released five CDs, each one to critical acclaim, most recently “Smoke And Mirrors” with the legendary tenor saxophonist Bobby Wellins and her latest CD, “Atlas & Vulcana”, launched here at the Club last November. She was also featured in the Steinway 2-Piano Festival at Pizza Express in 2010, 2011 and 2013, with two of the concerts broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Mike Outram is without doubt one of the most talented jazz guitarists in Europe. A world-class player his fluent and exciting guitar work has been heard with numerous established artists including the likes of Robert Fripp, Carleen Anderson, Tim Garland, Herbie Mann and Jacqui Dankworth. Highly respected as a player he is also a professor at both Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music and includes teaching work at the likes of Middlesex University and Guildhall School of Music as well as a monthly tuition column in The Guitarist magazine. Joined by bass player Jeremy Brown and drummer Steve Brown the quartet, jointly led by Mike and Kate, will be primarily performing music written by the legendary US pianist Bill Evans (Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue”), as well as a selection of jazz standards most closely associated with him. Promises to be quite a musical treat! ...
