The Kamao Quintet take their inspiration from the legacy of the great Django Reinhardt and traditional Manouche and Romani (gypsy) music.
Fronted by singer and guitarist Jean de Talhouet, the band includes clarinet (Dave Shulman), violin (Sharon Subarrao), gypsy guitars (Dave Kelbie), and double bass (Ruth Goller), creating a beautiful and rich sound that complements the vocals with haunting and lyrical harmonies. They bring the hottest swinging jazz, the saddest gypsy ballads, the liveliest waltzes, and beautiful original compositions. Manouche music beautifully combines Jazz with the warmth and liveliness of the Gyspy culture of Western Europe....
