The mighty Charles Mingus recorded many classic albums that most modern jazz lovers would undoubtedly take as their desert island disc. However, there's a gem of an album that, in Crosby's view, often gets unfairly ignored: Mingus Moves. Altogether, the album Mingus Moves is a bewitching mixture of intense tempo-shifting Charleston, challenging Bebop themes, calming and thought-provoking vocals, and avant garde soloing, all touched by the Mingus magic, making this satisfying but sadly overlooked album perfect for live reproduction by Gary Crosby's Nu Troop. Pure eargasm!
