The mighty Charles Mingus recorded many classic albums that most modern jazz lovers would undoubtedly take as their desert island disc. However, there's a gem of an album that, in Crosby's view, often gets unfairly ignored: Mingus Moves. Recorded in 1973 with a fantastic quintet featuring the then young lions Don Pullen and George Adams - who both contributed memorable pieces: Newcomer and Flowers For A Lady - and the less well-known trumpeter, Roland Hampton, with vocals by Honey Gordon and Doug Hammond.
