About
Direct from their sold-out appearance at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, this special evening sees a new acoustic duo project from two very fine young jazz musicians come to Dean Clough, as part of the first UK tour for Theo Jackson.
Vocalist and pianist Theo Jackson is quickly becoming a recognisable figure on the UK jazz scene. His performances bring a mix of familiar jazz standards from the likes of Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker alongside his own original songs which take inspiration from the timeless writing of Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder.
Creative young contemporary saxophonist Nathaniel Facey is probably best known for his work with the MOBO award-winning jazz project Empirical. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Nathaniel studied with Jean Toussaint and Julian Siegel among others. A former member of Gary Crosby's Tomorrows Warriors, Nathaniel gained his first recording experience on Dune Records artist Denys Baptiste's 'Let Freedom Ring!' and has toured extensively both across the UK and abroad. Nathaniel has been nominated for the first Jazz FM "Best Instrumentalist" award.
Theo and Nathaniel will present their own unique interpretations of jazz standards, together with their own original compositions.
Expect sizzling swing and great interaction from these exciting young musicians.
